How to join the HyperTexting Community Chat πŸ’¬

Forums and chat services serve two completely different purposes. We love a good community forum because public discussions provide an incredibly valuable (and searchable!) resource for new and existing users to get answers to their questions, and to share ideas. :light_bulb: But we also love a good community chat because it facilitates collaboration. It can be helpful to have a private discussion (via chat) before starting a public discussion (via the forums). And it helps bring communities together when people have more ways to communicate – including DMs! We have made a lot of friends this way.

The HyperTexting Community Chat :speech_balloon:

The HyperTexting Community forums will always be public and free for anyone to join and participate, but chat will be invite-only until we get enough moderators to open it up.
Anyone who wants access to chat can either become a sponsor ($5/mo) or earn access by becoming a contributor.

How to become a contributor

All users who reach trust level 2 will get access to the HyperTexting Community chat. In addition to reaching trust level 2 via your activity on these forums, you can earn access by one of the following actions:

Why are we charging for chat access?

Three reasons. The first reason is because Team @herd.works is currently only two people, and we are replacing our company Slack with the HyperTexting Community Chat. It’s literally where we will be hanging out to do our work. The second reason is that we need to onboard trusted moderators before we can open up the chat to new users, so we can ensure that everyone feels welcome and safe (see community guidelines). The third reason is that we wanted to create an opportunity for people to sponsor our work on HyperTemplates. :money_mouth_face:

Ideally this situation will be temporary. As we grow the team and community we want to make it as easy as possible for new users to get answers to their questions, and if chat is the right tool for that, we intend to use it. In the interim, we look forward to hanging out with contributors in the chat! :speech_balloon:
