Article parsing and in-app reader mode

Hi!

Is there any way to improve article parsing in Hyoer Texting, or allow for an in-app reader mode?

Example this feed:

is shown in Hyper Texting as

While this is the same feed as shown in the app Lume by Frido

It looks like you might be running an older version of HyperTexting. The latest version added an in-app browser w/ reader mode. Check the TestFlight app for updates. The in-app browser might not be exactly what you’re asking for but I wonder if it would get you part way there!

This blog post covers some of the other major changes:

I hope this helps!

I believe i am on last testbuild version.

Is there any option to change then to allow for inapp browser reader?

OK, try tapping the Safari icon at the bottom of any post. Or from the post view, tap the “…” menu icon, then tap “Open in browser”.

The in-app browser was enabled by default in the 0.22.x release, so links should open in-app.

If you’re not seeing links open in-app, tap “Timeline”, then tap the options icon (the top-right menu option) to open the settings view.

Then tap HyperLinks to configure how links are opened:

I hope this helps!

Thanks.

My point is: clicking on the safari icon open the in-app browser, but not automatically in reader mode. It needs an extra two taps on top right to enable reader mode.

It would be nice to have the in-app browser open automatically in reader mode.

Ah. I see. I’ve used a bunch of feed readers that do this (or just show the reader view by default with no clicks). Some publishers have moved away from full-text feeds, so these “fetch the page and render the contents in reader mode instead of showing the actual feed contents” workaround have become quite popular.

My goal with HyperTexting (so far) has been to be faithful to the actual contents of a feed as the default behavior. And because many feeds only contain summaries, that’s what you’ll see in HT by default. But that doesn’t mean I can give users better tools for accessing the full page contents, so let me look into this. Perhaps I can add a configuration toggle to force the in-app browser into reader mode by default, so if you prefer reader mode it will just be one tap away. :+1:
